The Holly Theater in Dahlonega will host a screening of "The Founders" at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 11. The Founders is the iconic story of 13 women who battled society, prejudice and preconception to create a lasting, global sporting legacy by creating the Ladies Professional Golf Association (LPGA) in 1950.

. Long overdue, this film is about finally recognizing those unseen efforts and identifying The Founders as true icons of sport and equality. The film isn’t just for those who frequent the golf course. This film is for anyone who believes in the transformative power of defying the odds.

All proceeds from this showing of the movie will be contributed to the Holly Theater. Support the Holly Theater and enjoy this award winning film (without the drive to Dawsonville).

I had such a great experience filming in Dahlonega. The city and county representatives are extremely helpful and eager to support film productions in any way possible. It’s pretty remarkable to come to a small, quaint mountain town like this to find such a professional, production ready atmosphere. Not only are you dealing with great people, but you’re also in one of the prettiest areas in Georgia!  I hope to be back soon!

Downtown Dahlonega is a sparkling example of how careful planning, small business support and historic preservation can combine to create a thriving downtown. Its downtown district, art galleries, restored theater and courthouse stand out in North Georgia, making Dahlonega a viable place to do business.
