As we look to the future...

Based on experiences of other Georgia cities outside the 40 mile Atlanta film zone, there will be more inquiries than visits, more visits than serious “look-sees”, more look-sees than productions, and more small productions than large productions. As a location-rich community we will seek to present a broad range of options so filming is not concentrated. Long term, continuity or routine will only happen when a pilot movie/TV show is picked up and becomes a several year commitment. The current “one-offs” we have experienced involving the Dahlonega Square are the most challenging. These production teams have an extremely tight schedule, are not familiar with the community, what we require and vice-versa.

We will continuously learn from each production because the last one will not be the same as the next. We hope our current learning curve will allow us to be better prepared in the future!

I had such a great experience filming in Dahlonega. The city and county representatives are extremely helpful and eager to support film productions in any way possible. It’s pretty remarkable to come to a small, quaint mountain town like this to find such a professional, production ready atmosphere. Not only are you dealing with great people, but you’re also in one of the prettiest areas in Georgia!  I hope to be back soon!

Downtown Dahlonega is a sparkling example of how careful planning, small business support and historic preservation can combine to create a thriving downtown. Its downtown district, art galleries, restored theater and courthouse stand out in North Georgia, making Dahlonega a viable place to do business.
